The elegant Carey Mulligan as Jenny in An Education. I saw this film last month. It's based on a memoir by Lynn Barber and written by one of my favorite authors, Nick Hornby. The costumes are so gorgeous and really help to visually illustrate Jenny's transformation from a schoolgirl to a young woman. The rest of the cast is great as well. I particularly loved Olivia Williams as Jenny's stern but caring teacher.

This is playing at the theater near my apt right now. You've given me the inspiration I need to go. I'm going to see Mr Fox this weekend. SOOOO excited! Doesn't it just sound incredible!?
Oh, and I almost forgot! I keep meaning to ask you if you have seen "Let the RIght One In"? I can't even find words for how much I loved it. Just rented it a couple weekends ago.
Same New Story: Well, it's kind of a quiet film in that there aren't really any big, dramatic moments. The story itself isn't anything we haven't seen before, but I think it's worth watching for the costumes, visuals and the great performances.
dana: I saw Fantastic Mr. Fox a couple of weeks ago at an advanced screening - it's so good! I absolutely loved it and laughed so much throughout the whole movie. It's such a gem. So original, but so "classic Wes Anderson" at the same time. I really hope you enjoy it!
I have seen Let the Right One In! I wrote a blog entry about it saying that I think it might be the best vampire movie I've ever seen. I tell everyone I know that they have to watch it, but it's hard to convince people of how good it is without giving too much away. It was one of my favorite movies that I saw last year. It was so romantic and haunting and scary at the same time!
