mix well
Madewell just posted this video featuring their "style muse" for their fall campaign, Solange Knowles. I was so happy when I saw the announcement on their Facebook page because I'm a big admirer of Solange's bold, colorful style and (as evidenced by my Pinterest) Madewell is one of my absolute favorite shops. It really is the perfect pairing. Check out the video for a sneak peek at Madewell's fall collection. I'm loving the polka dots, laid-back blues, and bright poppy reds.

celeste and jesse forever
Happy Friday! Tonight I'm going to a screening of Celeste and Jesse Forever followed by a Q&A with the writers, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. I'm very excited. I have such a girl crush (overused term, but appropriate!) on Rashida Jones. She's deadpan funny, smart, and she has great style, too.
And in Ninja Vintage news: 10 new items were just added to the Etsy shop this week - lots of brightly colored dresses and separates. I have lots more to add next week as well. In the meantime, have a fun fun weekend!

french navy
One of my favorite bands, Camera Obscura, released a fantastic album back in April and I feel like a big dummy for just becoming aware of it now. Chalk it up to being really preoccupied, I guess. I'm definitely not as updated on bands & artists as I used to be, but thanks to a friend, I've belatedly discovered this absolute gem of a song (and video). Enjoy!

two weeks
My favorite song at the moment is "Two Weeks" by Grizzly Bear. The music video is a little bit funny, a little bit creepy, and strangely mesmerizing. Kind of like watching a ventriloquist's dummy.

"did I offend you?"
I just had to share this. It's a short film for Oliver Peoples Eyewear featuring Zooey Deschanel and Matt Costa, and directed by one of my favorite photographers/filmmakers, Autumn de Wilde.

would've, could've
Here's what I would've purchased from the Built by Wendy sample sale:

Exploding Mouse tee. Ham tee (I love To Kill A Mockingbird).

Cashmere cardigan. Plaid strapless dress.

Gradient tees.
My friend just showed me this music video, in which the lead singer is wearing a similar striped tee. I thought it was a nice little coincidence. I've never heard of this band before, but I like the music video for obvious reasons.

happy valentine's day
I hope that your day doesn't go like this:
(I actually wanted to post the disastrous Valentine's day date scene, but I couldn't find it on hulu.)

the bird and the bee
On Tuesday, I attended the Jimmy Kimmel Live show to see The Bird and the Bee perform. They just released a new album called Ray Guns are not Just the Future. I instantly fell in love with the lead singer and her gorgeous voice. Inara George has one of those unmistakable, striking voices, like Karen O or Jenny Lewis. And, like those two, she also has a really unique sense of style. Very feminine and vintage-inspired, as evidenced by the music video for The Bird and the Bee's "Again & Again" (which can be seen here).
The following is the music video for the song "Love Letter to Japan," from their new album, which I love because the guys playing Dance Dance Revolution remind me of my brother, who was pretty much the King of DDR back in the day. Whenever he would play DDR, a group of dozens would inevitably begin to form around him to marvel in his flawless technique. I was such a proud little sister. Anyway, this song is great. Enjoy!

jury duty
Jury duty will be taking up my afternoons for the next week or so (hopefully not "or so," but things aren't looking very promising right now). I was planning on having a site update ready by tomorrow, but that will have to be postponed for a bit. Lots of appointments and planned trips have been dotting my schedule this summer, and having jury duty thrown into the mix has given me very little time to get anything done. I might be able to add a couple of things next week, but as of right now I'm kind of swamped. In the meantime, here is a hilarious cat video for you to enjoy:
